I have been teaching Grade One for four years now and I am looking to make a step up, and become more of an influence on student’s lives. Right now, I am employed by NIT Beijing and I’m not as fulfilled as I would like in this role. It is my belief that becoming proficient in a language requires substantially more than just 80 minutes of class per day. I have long argued with my current leaders that the students will only become natural in English after there is a greater emphasis on applying English in other areas such as science, social studies and extra-curricular activities such as sport. I also believe that current technology can play a great role in student’s lives. I have applied this to creating videos, comics and other such materials that students can use outside the classroom for reinforcement fun. I used to have a tutoring role with a Russian student from the British School of Beijing which follows these values and her level of English is astounding compared to my current students. This is the type of environment that I am interested in. I am extremely enthusiastic, hardworking and I have a good ability to relate to students applying the correct amount of strictness coupled with the right amount of encouragement.
