IIE English Training CentreIIE英語培訓中心 外教英語教師 Guangzhou, China 07.12 - Present Foreign Language Teacher In this, my most recent job. I have been employed as the sole foreign teacher. I am responsible for teaching the kindergarten and primary students oral English. This is done in a variety of ways including games and activities, reading and songs. I am also responsible for demonstration classes to prospective students and any other non teaching activities including birthday parties and special events.
Spirit Kids Training Centre 精神孩子培訓中心 廣州 Guangzhou, China 09.10 - 06.12 Foreign Language Teacher I was employed at this young learner training centre initially as it's only full time foreign teacher. I was responsible for teaching the children oral English through the centres own teaching software. The teaching methods included songs, games and stories. I was also responsible for providing demonstration classes to potential students and hosting various special events for the company.
Luo Cun Experimental Primary School 佛山 羅村實驗小學 Foshan, China 03.10 – 07.10 Foreign Language Teacher In this position, my main duty was to instruct the students in conversational English. I taught Primary students ranging from 6-13 years old. I was also required to provide demonstration classes to prospective students on school open days occasionally during the weekends.
Leshan Foreign Language School 樂山外國語學校 Leshan, China 09.09 – 01.10 Foreign Language Teacher My main duty in this position was to provide classes with a focus on conversational English. I taught a wide range of age groups, from primary students up to seniors. In an average week I taught twenty two 40 minute classes each of around 50 students. I also participated in extra curricular activities including: teaching a number of senior students how to play the guitar and sing English songs. In addition, I maintained contact with them through the use of Skype to hone their spoken and written skills.
Roskear House Camborne 01.09 – 08.09 Housekeeper Sole responsibility for catering, planning, budgeting etc. for 6 mentally challenged residents plus carer.
04.08 – 12.08 After returning to the UK I initially planned to take the summer season off. However I became involved in some house renovations work both structural and groundwork. This was followed by troubleshooting and maintaining the family business computer, plus installing home networks for both family and friends.
Skiworld France 11.07 – 03.08 Chalet Host/Chef As a Returner, although with a different company, this winter season I was employed as a chalet chef, solely responsible for: the menu planning, budgeting, food/wine ordering plus the actual cooking for the 14 guest chalet. Additionally I was involved in the general running of the chalet and entertaining the guests. The success of the chalet was indicated by receiving 1/3 of the total compliment letters received by the company for the complete resort area.
English Heritage Pendennis Castle Falmouth Cornwall 04.04 – 10.07 Visitor Operations Team Member I was re-employed by English Heritage in a more senior position (see below for previous employment details). Additional responsibilities include firing the on-site 25 pounder field gun and using the digital camera to produce promotional and special events material. As a confident and capable computer user, I am now in charge of ITduties such as 1-on-1 training of less competent staff and producing advertising/ educational material. I identified the need for and co-produced a gun-guide, which was subsequently put on sale by English Heritage. My increased experience and interpersonal skills have made me an affable and effective tour guide. I have been praised by senior external tour guides and have been personally requested by visitors
First Choice Alpe d’Huez France 11.03 – 03.04 Chalet Assistant Although the role of chalet assistant is relatively simple, consisting of duties such as cleaning and cooking, the key aspect of my role was interacting with guests. To ensure that their stay was thoroughly enjoyable I would cater for their personal needs, for example by providing separate meals for children and adults. I would also discuss skiing and boarding with them, identifying their individual capabilities and requirements, to best advise them on which pistes to visit. If guests had specific technical questions, I would help troubleshoot the problem to solve the issue.
Pendennis Castle Falmouth Cornwall 03.03 – 11.03 During this initial period of employment with English Heritage, I learned about the organisation and developed my professional capabilities since previous employment had involved less customer interaction. As well as general duties such as manning the shop or reception, I researched the history of Pendennis Castle to better equip me to give guided tours and answer any visitor questions. I had extensive interaction with a wide variety of customers both in my everyday role and also through involvement i n hospitality functions such as weddings and children’s parties. Management personnel recognised my calibre as a seasonal custodian and were consequently keen to re-employ me upon my return to the UK.
