Different Requires for Foreign Teachers Recruiting

As the World becomes smaller and smaller, we call the world as “global village”, English study becomes more and more important for us, especially for Chinese students. We got more chance to talk with foreigners, a high score is also needed if you want to go to a great university. That’s why the foreign teachers(外教老師) recruitment vocation grows up so quickly just like the bamboo shoots after a spring rain.

So the phenomenon comes, some schools are really devote themselves to improve their students’ English; some schools will take this advantage to appeal to students so they can earn more money… … Due to the very different reasons there comes the very different requires for foreign teachers recruiting.

Basically, we can classify them into kinds below:

1, The most strict ones:

Most of them are public schools, or the good qualified training centers, they will provide z visas(working visas) to their foreign teachers, and they will only accept teachers who are certified with at least bachelor degree and teaching certificate such as TEFL, TESOL or CELTA. In addition, they should have at least two years teaching experience, and really good at teaching. One more rigid condition, the foreign teachers must come from English speaking countries.

2, native speakers only:

Some schools require native speakers only, these schools really want to improve their students English, but they are too blind to check if all native speakers are good teachers. Some teachers are not native, but they do have great accent and excellent teaching experience, but these schools will check one thing only---passport! I really feel pity when they lose good opportunities to work with such great teachers.

3, Foreigner’s appearance:

Some schools only focus on the foreign teachers’ appearance, no matter which country they are come from, no matter how are their accent, they will be welcomed only if they have foreigners’ faces and good looking. Someone may can not understand, but it is really a good idea for a school to appeal to more students, earn more money and pay less than native qualified teachers.

4, “Generous” schools:

Some schools will accept only if you are a foreigner, I have to say I like this kind of school most, as I am a job agent, consider in my position, ha-ha.
